Saint Stephen School is proud to have several bands including a Jazz Band. We are one of only three elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Hartford to have a Jazz Band! We also offer classroom music instruction.
Saint Stephen School currently has a 10-member Jazz Band, a 16-member Advanced Band and a 14-member Cadet (Beginner) Band open to students in grades four through eight. Weekly instrumental lessons are provided at the school through Future Musicians, Inc. Our bands take part in our Christmas and Spring concerts. Through Future Musicians, students have the opportunity to audition for regional and state bands. These students have performed at The Lincoln Center in New York City, The Hines Convention Center in Boston, and The Old State House in Hartford. In addition, grade three students are offered the chance to learn playing the recorder during the year.
Our music program includes all students. Pre-K, Kindergarten and grade one students meet with the music teacher twice per week. Students in grades two through eight meet with the music teacher once per week. Vocal performances are included in the Christmas and Spring concerts.
